I was passing through the area where tree trimming was being done. They were trimming the branches of tree (mainly for Holi festival). It takes a long time (years) to grow a tree and takes only few minutes to cut it. Sad... Lots of trees get cut due to festivals like Holi. What we achieve by burning trees? really bad things or bad karmas do get burned during burning of wood in Holi ? Why we cannot celebrate festival in Eco friendly way? Really sad.
Trimmed tree
(P.s - This post is not meant to hurt any religious views. This post is sharing of my personal opinion.)
Tragic :(
ReplyDeleteYes,True Tragic :(
DeleteThe last one is a sad picture.
ReplyDeleteThere should be some system of taking permission to do such tree felling.
May be that can stop such illegal activities.
There are rules and regulations and before cutting or trimming trees permission has to be taken. But who knows whether permissions are actually taken or not ? I was feeling very sad as I was watching that. !
DeleteSame is the tragedy during idol immersion (Lord Ganesh or Goddess Durga) during the popular festivals of India. Sad but true, Indians do not respect the environment. There is nothing eco friendly during festivals, be it Holi, Diwali, Dusherra or any other festival. We celebrate it at the cost of Mother nature. Those who have an opinion are called anti-religious or rebels. I totally agree with your thoughts on this post D.Prabhu.
ReplyDeleteI am really delighted to find like minded person. Yes, There is nothing eco friendly during festivals here. Celebration of festivals are causing Water, Noise, Air and other types of pollution. This is not our culture and our ancestors were celebrating festivals in eco friendly way. But time has changed and meaning of festivals too have changed, and I feel somehow marketers of festivals have achieved their goals. Sad :(
DeleteVery sad. Most trees in urban cities look so exhausted with the branches cut and the remaining leaves covered with dust and soot. I remember there was a time when in Pune sunlight could barely reach the roads because the trees were large and happy :(
ReplyDeleteCondition of trees in city is disheartening. Gone are the days when roads were covered by the trees. :(
DeleteVery sad to see these kind of things in our society.
ReplyDeleteReally Sad, but nobody has time to pay attention to this things :( Every festival is being celebrated in a terrible way (I mean at the cost of environment) :(
DeleteIt's indeed sad. Most of the trees fall prey to urbanization and the remaining are claimed by superstitions.
ReplyDeleteYes, very true :(
DeleteShocking!!
ReplyDeleteShocking and disheartening :(
DeleteSo right!
ReplyDeleteYes, another side of our festival :(
DeleteDisheartening to see this. Agree with your views!
ReplyDeleteI am very happy to find many like minded people. Its disheartning :(
DeleteFestivals should not affect the environment. We celebrate all festivals in remembrance of Gods and our mythology doesn't support trimming down your nature. We should save for our future too!
ReplyDeleteWhy cant we have green festivals. Personally I don't even support crackers too!
True. Water wastage on the day of Holi is also a factor of worry. Even I don't support Fire works and cracker. This is not our culture and our ancestors were celebrating festivals in Eco friendly way. But time has changed and meaning of festivals too have changed, and I feel somehow marketers of festivals have achieved their goals. People are celebrating festivals at the cost of environment. Sad and disheartening fact.
DeleteVery sad :( I have also scheduled a post for tomorrow on Eco-friendly Holi celebration, with a different theme.
ReplyDeleteHow alike we are thinking!
DeleteIndded its a sad story. :(
DeleteYes we often capture and post similar subjects :)
